Evilclarkkent: great break down so far. please read my entry as well. complete custom firmware user manual. while not complete yet, i've addressed many problem solving techniques. maybe we should combine these posts....

Youros: I think it must be combined with Installing Custom Firmware! PS: please sign your posts!

• @Youros: Unfortunately, combining this article with Installing Custom Firmware would create quite a mess (check out how long these articles are)
• @Evilclarkkent: This isn't really the place for a CFW user manual. Not to say that such a thing isn't a great idea. I like it.

compatibility

How about a most homebrew compatible. A recommended firmware that is known to be compatible with most homebrew apps and games? I think there should be a small section about that so that users who are looking for which firmware to get can make a decision based on some facts. Jubei 00:25, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

@Jubei: An interesting idea. Perhaps an appropriately placed forum post to poll people about which CFW they would recommend would be a good thing to start with. A compatibility list might be something that could be placed into its article. Noti12 23:09, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Reorganized

Work that needs to be done on this page:

• TOC is absurdly long
• Grammar checking is needed
• Too much info on this page

My proposal is as follows:

BEGIN PROPOSAL

• For every prominent/noteworthy firmware author

1. Create a new article with that author's name as the title, unless an article about that author already exists
2. Move/Merge all release information relevant to that author from Custom Firmwares to the new article
3. Clean up information that has been moved from Custom Firmwares by listing firmware features using a bullet list as in Official Firmware
4. Create a section in Custom Firmwares for that author
   1. create an organized list of releases by the author, each firmware version listed will link to the section on the author's page about that firmware version

• Create an organized downloads list at the bottom of the Custom Firmwares article (like the one that is there now)
